David L. Ames, director of the Center for Historic Architecture and Design, was quoted in a Jan. 22 News Journal story about plans for a Southern Delaware Heritage Trail.

Antonia Randolph, assistant professor of sociology, and Margaret L. Andersen, Edward F. and Elizabeth Goodman Rosenberg Professor of Sociology, were quoted in a Jan. 21 News Journal story about race in America in light of the election of President Barack Obama.

Joan DelFattore, professor of English, was quoted in a Jan. 21 News Journal story about Delawareans who attended presidential inaugural activities.

James Newton, professor emeritus of Black American Studies, was quoted in a Jan. 21 News Journal story about civil rights movement pioneers and the inauguration. He said America has been “catapulted into a new era.”

Ralph Begleiter, Edward F. and Elizabeth Goodman Rosenberg Professor of Communication and distinguished journalist in residence at UD, Gary May, professor of history, and Joseph Pika, James R. Soles Professor of Political Science and International Relations, were quoted in a Jan. 21 News Journal story about President Obama's inaugural address.

Joseph Pika, James R. Soles Professor of Political Science and International Relations, was quoted in a Jan. 20 Politico story about the adjustment as Vice President Joe Biden, a UD alumnus, leaves the U.S. Senate for his new position.

Leland Ware, Louis L. Redding Professor of Law and Public Policy, was quoted in a Jan. 19 France24 story about the dreams of the Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. on the eve of the inauguration of President Barack Obama.

Charles Elson, Edgar S. Woolard Jr. Chair and director of the Weinberg Center for Corporate Governance, was quoted in a Jan. 19 Associated Press story about Apple and the health of Steve Jobs. Elson also was quoted in a Jan. 18 Associated Press story about the U.S. government as an activist investor in light of recent spending to assist the struggling economy.

Joe Flacco, former quarterback for the Fightin' Blue Hens, was featured in a Jan. 18 Baltimore Sun column by Rich Maese that focused on UD football, Newark and the legendary visit of Edgar Allan Poe to the Deer Park Tavern. UD Head Coach K.C. Keeler was quoted in the story. Flacco also was featured in a Jan. 18 story in The New York Times that focused on Delaware and its sports loyalties. Tubby Raymond, Hall of Fame former football coach, was quoted.

Christopher J. Christie, a UD alumnus, was featured in a Jan. 16 story in The New York Times as he laid out plans to run for governor of New Jersey.

Jeffrey J. Buler, supplemental faculty, was quoted in a Jan. 16 story in The New York Times about the crash of US Airways Flight 1549 that landed in the Hudson River. Buler is a specialist in the use of radar to study birds, and it is believed the plane might have struck a flock of geese as it took off.
