“Acting in accord with the highest standards of research conduct is vital to the University of Delaware's mission as a major research institution,” said Mark Barteau, senior vice provost for research and strategic initiatives and the Robert L. Pigford Chair of Chemical Engineering.

“The Research Office is pleased to offer a range of training options to assist the University research community, including our faculty, staff, students and research collaborators, in fully understanding and complying with the ethical guidelines and regulatory requirements for research that have been established by the University and by the federal government,” Barteau noted.

UD researchers can access the new courses on CITI's Web site [http://www.citiprogram.org]. Click on “New Users Register Here.” Next, select the “University of Delaware” from the drop-down list of participating institutions. Once you have created your username and password, choose the appropriate learner group.

In addition to online training, the Research Office periodically offers campus-wide seminars on the responsible conduct of research and individual topics such as animal welfare, human subjects in research and export controls. See the Research Office calendar [http://www.udel.edu/research/researchers/calendar.html] for specific dates and registration information.

Research groups of five or more individuals may schedule a training session at their location by contacting Elizabeth “Missy” Peloso, director of compliance in the Research Office, at [epeloso@udel.edu] or (302) 831-8619.
