Band videographer Brent King followed the UD Marching Band from Delaware Stadium to Pennsylvania Avenue, capturing the excitement of Inauguration Day.

The UD Marching Band is directed by Heidi I. Sarver, associate professor of music, who said that having the band selected to perform was an honor “beyond my wildest dreams.”

The band enjoyed a special moment as it passed by the reviewing stand, which featured President Barack Obama and two University of Delaware alumni, Vice President Joseph R. Biden Jr. and wife Jill Jacobs-Biden.

The 2008 election was a special one for the University of Delaware, which was hailed as the “epicenter” of national politics by the Bloomberg news service.

In addition to the Bidens, Steve Schmidt, who attended the University from 1988 to 1993, was a key adviser to the Republican campaign of John McCain and David Plouffe, who attended the University from 1985 through 1988, was a key adviser to Obama.

The video was the result of the cooperative effort of King, IT-University Media Services and the Office of Communications and Marketing.
