This event, which is the culmination of the senior thesis course for honors degree with distinction and degree with distinction students, will recognize exceptional research work at the undergraduate level and promote student awareness of undergraduate research possibilities.

To earn distinction from the University of Delaware, these seniors have spent a year engaged in original research and writing; many began undergraduate research in their sophomore or junior years, and their senior thesis will be the capstone of their undergraduate research experience.

Approximately 100 candidates for the Degree with Distinction and Honors Degree with Distinction programs will be presenting their research. Three groups will present oral presentations from 9:15-10:15 a.m., concurrently with the poster/exhibit session.

The plenary session at 10:30 a.m. will feature a keynote address by Erinn Batykefer, Stadler Poetry Fellow at Bucknell University, who earned an Honors Degree with Distinction in English/Creative Writing and Art History from the University of Delaware in 2004.

The second set of talks will be held from 11:15 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., when students will present their work in six concurrent sessions and answer questions from the audience.

All members of the University community are invited to the Senior Thesis Symposium. The event will be especially beneficial for students considering research and/or an enriched degree and for faculty sponsoring undergraduate researchers.
