11:15 a.m., April 15, 2009----National Medical Laboratory Professionals Week will be celebrated from April 19-25. The motto this year is “Laboratory Professionals Get Results.”

Medical laboratory professionals are employed on the University of Delaware campus in the following areas:

* Department of Medical Technology, where they instruct and mentor students who are aspiring to become clinical laboratory professionals.

* Student Health Services, where they staff the laboratory and perform laboratory analyses on students who require medical care.

* Occupational Health and Safety, where they assist other professionals in providing a safe learning and working environment on the entire UD campus.
