8:38 a.m., April 6, 2009----John Fisher Burns, who covers international issues as the London bureau chief for The New York Times, will speak at 7:30 p.m., Wednesday, April 8, in Mitchell Hall, as the Global Agenda 2009 series continues.

His topic will be “The Wars: Understanding Iraq, Afghanistan and Pakistan.”

Burns has written for The New York Times since 1975, is the winner of two Pulitzer Prizes and is the longest serving Western journalist covering Iraq.

Other assignments have included Afghanistan, China, the former Soviet Union, Africa and Bosnia.

Global Agenda is sponsored by the University of Delaware and the World Affairs Council of Wilmington and is moderated by Ralph Begleiter, Edward and Elizabeth Goodman Rosenberg Professor of Communication and Distinguished Journalist in Residence at UD.
