1:12 p.m., April 14, 2009----Emergency and Disaster Awareness Day, an open house during which members of the campus community can learn how to be prepared for emergencies and disasters in Newark and beyond, will be held from 10 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., Thursday, April 16, in Rooms 209 and 211 of the Trabant University Center.
The event is organized by the Earthquake Engineering Research Institute (EERI) Disaster Studies student chapter and is sponsored by the University's Department of Public Safety, and will provide an opportunity to meet with emergency response officials from state and local agencies.
Organizations expected to be represented include UD's Department of Public Safety as well as the emergency preparedness section, Aetna Hose, Hook and Ladder Company of Newark, Department of Environmental Health and Safety, the American Red Cross (Newark), UD's American Red Cross Club, UD's emergency response working group for collections and records, and many more.
Refreshments will be provided.
