University announces event cancellations

3:48 p.m., April 30, 2009----Taking precautions as advised by the Delaware Division of Public Health in light of the recent incidents of influenza, the following University of Delaware events have been canceled. Some of the events listed may be rescheduled at a later date.

Thursday, April 30

UD's Professional Theatre Training Program: Canceling performances of A Doll House Thursday, April 30 through Sunday, May 3. These performances will be rescheduled to take place in early September and all tickets from the current performances will be honored for the new dates. The Theatre Box Office is currently contacting each ticketed patron with further information. The Resident Ensemble Players production of Noel Coward's Hay Fever will continue as scheduled May 8-10 and May 15-16. Department of English Caesura Reading and Awards ceremony: Canceled.

Vita Nova: Closed until Monday, May 4. Will be open for lunch on Monday.

Blue & Gold Club: Closed until Monday, May 4. Will be open for lunch on Monday.

University Museums: Closed until Monday, May 4. Mineralogical Museum opening reception to have been held May 2 will be rescheduled, although the Mineralogical Museum will be open to visitors from 1-4 p.m., Saturday and Sunday.

Ice Arenas: UD Ice Arenas will be closed to the public until noon, Monday, May 4. UD (academic) skating classes still be held. Outdoor Pool registrations will resume at noon, Monday, May 4.

Greek Semi-formal: Recommending students not attend.

Sigma Delta Pi Honor Society induction, canceled.

Easter Seals Training Group, Clayton Hall, 8 a.m.-6 p.m., canceled.

College of Engineering event, 10 a.m.-8 p.m., canceled.

MALS Student-Alumni Association Dinner to have been held in the Gore Hall rotunda has been canceled. The event will be rescheduled for the fall semester.
