Developed by CAA Commissioner Thomas E. Yeager and the provosts of the CAA member institutions, the Colonial Academic Alliance is a consortium that brings the 12 schools together in academic programs that benefit faculty and students.

“We are competitors on the field and on the court,” said Alliance director Mary Frances Forcier, “but we're collaborators in the academic realm.”

“The institutions that make up the CAA are an incredible resource,” Forcier noted. “Collectively, they comprise more than 200,000 students and nearly 10,000 full-time faculty. Through the Alliance, we can leverage these strengths by developing innovative, collaborative programs that improve the quality of teaching, learning and research at each of our member institutions.”

In addition to undergraduate research, other areas of collaboration include student life, Study Abroad, South Asian studies, and assessment of student learning.

Undergraduates from the CAA schools presented their research in poster and oral-presentation sessions at Towson.

Representing the University of Delaware were Steven Beighley (cognitive science and linguistics); Brian Bersh (music education); Grace Chou (philosophy); Angelica Dunbar (psychology); Shaun Lynch (anthropology); Lorraine Makone (political science); Keith Pluymers (history); Oscar Romero (animal science); Erin Sullivan (business administration-management); and Pierre Yao Koffi (mechanical engineering).
