Living On Campus
More than 7,000 students, including 90 percent of all freshmen and half of the undergraduate population, live on campus in residence halls and apartments. Made up of 54 buildings on eight residential areas on campus, UD residence halls are convenient to classrooms, the Library, campus dining halls and facilities, and Main Street.
From the comfort of a residence hall room, students can access the University of Delaware and the world, with ethernet and wireless connections to the World Wide Web, to all University information systems and to the University's top-ranked library.
The nationally recognized campus security system includes a 24-hour locked door system in all residence halls; building specific access cards; well-lit campus paths; 200 emergency phones across the campus; a safety escort service; and many other security features that ensure a safe environment.
A 240-member Residence Life staff promotes an on-campus living environment designed to compliment a student's academic career. Using the halls as a "living laboratory," students learn to be good community members and citizens while they learn about themselves and receive support for their academic endeavors.
