
How to Remove Peer-to-Peer File Sharing
Programs from a Windows Vista Computer
The
University
of
Delaware
strongly urges all students and
staff members to refrain from using Peer to Peer (P2P) file sharing programs for downloading or
sharing copyrighted materials of any type.The copyright owners (or entities representing them) are continually
scanning the network for computers that are illegally sharing their
materials. Read more about the
consequences of using such programs.
Please uninstall any file
sharing programs before arriving on
campus to prevent any possible charges against you. Most programs in
Vista
may be uninstalled by following these steps:
- Click
Start.
- Click Control Panel.
- Double-click
Programs and Features.
- Click to highlight the name of the
program you want to remove.
- Click Uninstall at the top
of the window.
- If necessary, highlight the name
of any additional program(s) you want to remove.
- Click Uninstall.
- Repeat steps 6 and 7 until all
programs you want to remove have been.
- When you finish, close the
Programs and Features window.
- If prompted to do so, reboot your computer.
Remember: You are
responsible for your computer and its activities–regardless of whether you
installed the software or not. So be safe and remove any P2P software
on your system.
