How to Remove Other Anti-Virus Programs from a Windows Vista Computer


Some software conflicts with McAfee VirusScan. If your computer has other anti-virus software you should remove that software before installing the UD-customized version of McAfee VirusScan. Other common anti-virus software includes, but is not limited to, the following:

You should also remove copies of McAfee VirusScan that are from other sources than the University of Delaware: a promotional copy that came with your computer, a copy that you purchased with a retail license, or a copy from a previous school or employer.

  1. Click Start.
  2. Click Control Panel.
  3. Double-click Programs and Features.
  4. Click to highlight the name of the program you want to remove.
  5. Click Uninstall at the top of the window.
  6. After the program is uninstalled, if necessary, highlight the name of any additional program you want to remove.
  7. Click Uninstall.
  8. Repeat steps 6 and 7 until all programs you want to remove have been.
  9. When you finish removing programs, close the Programs and Features window.
  10. If prompted to do so, reboot your computer.
