How
to Remove Other Anti-Virus Programs from a Windows Vista Computer
Some software conflicts
with McAfee VirusScan. If your computer has other
anti-virus software you should remove that software before
installing the UD-customized version of McAfee VirusScan. Other common anti-virus software includes,
but is not limited to, the following:
- Any
pre-installed McAfee product
- avast!
- AVG
Anti-Virus
- BitDefender
- Bullguard
- eTrust
- F-secure
- Kaspersky Anitvirus
- Norton Antivirus or Internet
Security
- Panda
Antivirus
- PC-cillin
- Trend
Micro's HouseCall
You should also remove
copies of McAfee VirusScan that are from other
sources than the University of Delaware: a promotional copy that came
with your computer, a copy that you purchased with a retail license, or a copy
from a previous school or employer.
- Click
Start.
- Click Control Panel.
- Double-click
Programs and Features.
- Click to highlight the name of the
program you want to remove.
- Click Uninstall at the top
of the window.
- After the program is uninstalled, if necessary, highlight the name
of any additional program you want to remove.
- Click Uninstall.
- Repeat steps 6 and 7 until all
programs you want to remove have been.
- When you finish removing programs, close the
Programs and Features window.
- If prompted to do so, reboot your computer.
