Perform Mac OS X (10.5) Periodic Maintenance


To perform periodic maintenance on a Mac OS X 10.5 (Leopard) computer, follow these steps:

  1. On your hard drive, click Applications.
  2. Click the Utilities folder. The Utilities window should look like the one below:

  1. Double-click the Disk Utility folder. You will see a window like the one below:

  2. Click the name of your hard drive in the left pane (e.g., Macintosh HD in this example) .
  3. Click First Aid on the right-hand side of the window.
  4. Click Repair Disk Permissions.
  5. When the process is complete, select close the window.
  6. You should run Disk Utility after installing any new software to ensure that the installation did not affect your computer in any adverse way.
