Sun SPARCservers

Hardware

Copland - Sun Fire 6800 Domain

  • (8) 750 MHz UltraSPARC III CPUs each with 8 MB of cache.
  • 16 GB of memory
  • 3 x 18 GB local, 300 GB of StorEdge T3 disks  (2 x 9 x 18 GB).
  • Connected to the network via fast ethernet (100 megabits/second) and gigabit ethernet (1000 megabits/second).
  • The gigabit link is used on subnet 3 which is a private (back end) network that links Copland to the NetApp filer and the backup server.
  • Solaris 10

Strauss - Sun Fire 6800 Domain

  • 16 CPUs (same specifications as Copland)
  • 32 GB of memory.
  • Disk Configuration identical to Copland
  • Solaris 9

Kang/Kodos – Clustered Network Appliance Filer

  • The cluster is built from a pair of F820 servers (the pair is termed an F820C).
  • There is about four terabytes of disk in the cluster (sixty 72 GB disks).

Tape peripherals are available from Strauss:

1 Tape Server running REELlibrarian software with

·         2 half-inch 9-track tape drive

·         1 3480/3490 compatible cartridge tape drive

·         1 5.0 GB 8mm Exabyte tape drive

·         1 2.0 GB 8mm Exabyte tape drive

·         1 4mm DAT tape drive

Other servers -

    • Many Sun Fire 280Rs (dual CPU, 4 GB of memory),
    • Many Netra X1 (400 or 500 MHz UltraSPARC II CPU, 1 GB memory),
    • Some Netra T1 (500 MHz UltraSPARC II CPU and 1 GB of memory),
    • Many Sun Fire V100 (650 MHz UltraSPARC IIe CPU, 1 GB memory) and
    • Some Sun Fire V120 (650 MHz UltraSPARC IIe CPU, 1 GB Memory)

(All of these servers have dual disks (40 GB for the X1s, V100s and V120s, 30 GB for the T1s).
