If you want to set up your smartphone to access your UD email account, you must specify settings on the phone to permit a connection to your email account. The settings location and wording will vary depending on the phone, model, and service provider you use. The following table contains an outline of UD specifications that should allow your smartphone to access your UD email account.
| Setting | Specification |
| Account type: | Other |
| Protocol: | IMAP |
| User Name: | UDelNet ID |
| Email Address: | UDelNet ID@udel.edu |
| Incoming Mail Server: | mail.udel.edu |
| Use Secure Connection (SSL): | Checked or Yes selected. The port number should be set to 993. |
| Outgoing Mail Server (SMTP): | mail.udel.edu |
| Use Authentication for Outgoing Mail Server (ESMTP): | Checked or Yes selected. |
| Email Password: | If the password field reads "unassigned," click the password field and type your UDelNet password. After you type your password, the field should read "assigned." |
When you set up your email account on your smartphone initially, you may not see all the above specifications. Many smartphones have basic email settings that are automatically set up by an email setup wizard. Advanced settings can be specified after the basic setup. Look for advanced settings not listed in the basic settings in an "Advanced Settings" option.
NOTE
Your smartphone may try to automatically detect your account settings when you type your email address. If autodetection fails, look for a link to enter the account settings manually.
