Internet2 Awareness Day
January 19, 2000
127 Memorial Hall

January 19, 2000 marked the date of UD's first Internet2 Awareness Day, held on the main campus of the University of Delaware. The program's goal was to help the campus community understand what Internet2 is and how it is altering teaching, research and collaboration at UD and elsewhere.

The conference's live webcast was recorded for later playback on demand.

Speakers included David J. Farber, Chief Technologist, Federal Communications Commission and Alfred Fitler Moore Professor of Telecommunications at the University of Pennsylvania; Ted Hanss, Director of Applications Development, Internet2 Project, University Corporation for Advanced Internet Development; UD faculty Chandra Kambhamettu (Computer and Information Science), Murray V. Johnston (Chemistry and Biochemistry) and Lloyd C. Shorter (Music); and Daniel J. Grim (IT - Network and System Services). They discussed and demonstrated I2-enabled research and network-enhanced collaboration across widely varying disciplines.
