Webmail Direct: Disk Quotas

E-mail disk quotas

The UD e-mail program allocates at least 30M disk space for each e-mail account. Messages in your Inbox and all other saved messages count towards your e-mail disk quota.

  • Any new e-mail sent to you while you have exceeded your e-mail disk quota is held in a queue until you delete messages to increase your available space. Then the messages are delivered to you.
  • Webmail Direct offers the easiest way to monitor your e-mail disk quota. You will see how much disk space you are using displayed at the top of any e-mail folder (including your Inbox):

    Disk quota bar

  • If your e-mail usage is approaching your quota, delete messages in your Inbox and other folders to increase the space you have available.

If you are nearing your quota, follow this process to identify your largest messages and delete or save them elsewhere:

  1. Use the University of Delaware Mail Folder Lister to identify your largest files.

    1. Log in with your UDelNet ID and password.

    2. Select List Largest Messages and click OK.

  2. After you have identified your largest messages, remove any files you no longer need to store in your mail folders.

Important: No request for a disk quota increase will be honored until you have completed this process. If you still need more disk space after you have deleted all unnecessary files, fill out an IT Help Center Help Request Form to request it.
