Using e-mail is a daily task for students, faculty, and staff at UD. And e-mail doesn't stop arriving when you aren't checking it. It continues to accumulate in your INBOX every daywhether you are off campus during semester break, on vacation, attending a conference, or leaving campus permanently.Graduating or Permanently Leaving Campus | Leaving Campus Temporarily | For More Information
Graduating or Leaving Campus Permanently
If you are graduating from the University or leaving campus permanently, make sure you take the following steps.
- Forward your e-mail
You can forward all your e-mail to a non-UD e-mail address by following these instructions. This will allow new e-mail sent to your UD e-mail address to reach you until your account is purged from the system.- Forward any stored mail you wish to retain
If you have any messages in your inbox, Sent, or other mail folders that you wish to retain, forward those messages to your non-UD e-mail account.- Check your Webmail Direct Address Book
If you have been using Webmail Direct to store address book information, follow the directions in the Webmail Direct (Mirapoint) Help files for exporting an address book.
- Open your e-mail by pointing your web browser at http://mail.udel.edu and log in as you ordinarily would.
- From the left column, select Help.
- In the top panel of the Help screen, select Address Book.
- Find the entry in the table of links for Exporting Contact Information. Select that entry for information about exporting address book information from Webmail Direct.
- Check your e-mail regularly
While you are away from campus, you can use any computer with an Internet connection to check your e-mail and make sure that you are not exceeding your e-mail disk quota by logging in to Webmail Direct: http://mail.udel.edu.UD's new e-mail system has very generous e-mail disk quotas. However, if your account has exceeded its e-mail quota, none of your e-mail will be delivered to you. You can monitor your account's e-mail quota by logging in to Webmail Direct. Current quota usage is displayed toward the top

- Activate the junk mail/SPAM filter
Before leaving campus, make sure that you have turned on junk mail filtering. You can use white listing and block listing to fine tune the system's automatic filtering.Whether you are on campus or off, it's important that you get in the habit of checking your junk mail folder about twice a week to be sure that no valid e-mail has been directed there.
- Forward your e-mail (Optional)
If you prefer, you can forward all your e-mail to a non-UD e-mail address by following these instructions. Remember, even if your e-mail is forwarded, you are responsible for receiving all official e-mail sent to your UDelNet account.- Mailing list subscriptions
Consider temporarily unsubscribing from any mailing lists to which you belong. Following these directions will help you manage your mailing list subscriptions, and your e-mail account's disk quota.
