How
to decrease your INBOX disk space use
if you work with Pine Mail |
||
|
The following instructions are written to help individuals who work with Pine Mail use the application to reduce their INBOX disk space use. General instructions for Pine Mail
Example If your UDelNet ID (username) was "dottie," at the copland.udel.edu (%) prompt, you would type ls -l /var/mail/dottie and then press ENTER. You would receive a system response similar to the following: -rw------- 1 dottie other 3103774 May 18 10:45 /var/mail/dottie This information indicates that dottie has 3,103,774 bytes of data in her INBOX. Remember, 1,000,000 bytes of data is approximately 1MB. Therefore, dottie has over 3MB of data in her INBOX. She would need to delete (remove) e-mail messages from her account until the disk space usage is below 2MB (approximately 2,000,000 bytes).
