How to Manage Your Inbox Disk Space Limit
The Problem: Exceeding your Inbox disk space limit

Why did my Inbox exceed its disk space limit?

It's simple: The e-mail messages in your Inbox take up more disk space than has been allotted to your Inbox.

What happens if my Inbox exceeds its disk space limit?

Each evening, a program runs on the central system that automatically sends a warning to all accounts with an Inbox size greater than 10MB. If the Inbox reaches the maximum limit allowed, the Inbox will be archived and taken off the central system.

Unlike a UDelNet account's overall disk quota limit, Inbox disk space is a shared resource. Therefore, it needs to be managed so that the UD central system is available to all who use it.

What types of files are counted toward my Inbox's disk space limit?

All e-mail messages that you receive and retain in your Inbox count toward your Inbox's disk space limit. And if any e-mail message contains an attachment (which can be extremely large), those attachments also count. Even a small number of e-mail messages that contain an attachment can place your Inbox over its disk space limit.
