I've received a word-processed file as an attachment in a Pine message. How do I view it with my word-processsing program?

If you've received a word-processed file as an attachment in a Pine message, to view the file, you must have access to the word-processing program in which the file was created. In general, these are the steps you need to follow:

  1. Use the Pine Mail program to save the attachment as a file in your UNIX account on the central e-mail server.
  2. Save the file to your desktop computer using a file transfer program (e.g., WS_FTP LE on a Windows system or the Fetch program for a Macintosh computer.)
  3. Open the file in the word-processing program in which it was created.

After you use the Pine Mail program to save the attachment as a file in your account on the central e-mail server, you can download it to your desktop computer using either the WS_FTP LE (FTP) program for a Windows computer or the Fetch program for a Macintosh computer.

Opening the file in a word-processing program

After you download the file to your desktop computer, you can open it in the word-processing program in which it was created. The file should have retained all of its formatting.
