Netscape keeps crashing

Remember: You may not have to perform all of these steps.
After each
step, check to see if the problem still occurs. If it does, go to the next
step. If you've completed all the steps, call the Help Center at 831-6000,
Monday through Friday from 8 am to 5 pm.
- Make sure your antivirus software is up to date. Scan your computer
for viruses.

If you don't have McAfee installed,
download and install it now.
-
Scan your computer.
-
Right click on the VirusScan Console - looks like the
magnifying glass - on the "Start" bar the your desktop.
-
Choose "Restore".
-
Double click on
"Scan My computer", click "Run Now" and click "OK".
-
Continue with the next step.
-
Temporarily disable McAfee Antivirus software (before running ScanDisk or
Defrag).
-
Click the "Start" button on the desktop. Choose "Settings | Control
Panel".
-
Double click the "VirusScan" icon.
-
Click the "Stop" button on the "Service" tab.
-
Continue with the next step.
- Empty startup folder.
-
Right click the "Start" button on the desktop.
-
Choose "Open".
-
Double click the "Programs folder".
-
Double click the "StartUp folder".
-
Remove all Iomega and Microsoft Office folders. Right click on the folder
and select "Delete".
-
Continue with the next step.
-
Run ScanDisk.
-
Click the "Start" button on the desktop.
Choose "Programs | Accessories | System Tools | ScanDisk".
-
Click "Start".
-
Continue with the next step.
-
Run Defrag.
-
Click the "Start" button on the desktop.
Choose "Programs | Accessories | System
Tools | Disk Defragmenter". This could take a long time to complete.

Choose the disk you wish to degrag. Click "OK".
-
Continue with the next step.
-
Enable McAfee Antivirus Software (after running ScanDisk or
Defrag).

Click the "Start" button on the desktop. Choose "Settings | Control
Panel".
-
Double Click the "VirusScan" icon.
-
Click the "Start" button on the "Service" tab.
-
Check to see if Netscape is still crashing. If it is, continue with the
next
step.
-
Delete files in the c:\windows\temp directory
-
Close all open programs.
-
Open Windows Explorer. Click the "Start" button on
the desktop. Choose "File | Programs | Windows Explorer".
-
Go to the "View" menu, and select "Folder Options".
-
Select the "View tab".
-
Under hidden files, select "Show all files".
-
Click "OK".
-
Click on the plus sign ("+") to the left of (C:).
-
Click on the plus sign ("+") to the left of Windows folder.
-
Click on the "Temp" directory.
-
Choose the "Edit" menu, and select "Select All".
-
Go to the "File" menu, and select "Delete".
-
You may be prompted to click "Yes" or "Yes to all"
to confirm file deletion.
-
Choose "File | Close" to close the Windows Explorer program.
-
Check to see if Netscape is still crashing. If it is, continue with the
next
step.
-
Follow instructions for
uninstalling and reinstalling Netscape.
