Conversion Instructions for Netscape 4.7x (Windows) Users

These directions are for users of Netscape 4.77, 4.76, 4.77, 4.78, and 4.79 on a Windows computer. You will download and run a file that will patch your copy of Netscape 4.7x so that it will work with the new Mirapoint e-mail system.

  1. If you are directly connected to UD's network (either on-campus or dialed into the UD modem pool), follow this link to download the Netscape 4.7x patch to your computer. If you are connecting through another ISP, follow this link to download the Netscape 4.7x patch to your computer. Save the patch on your desktop.

  2. Double-click the net47fix icon on your computer's desktop. You'll first see the patch extract itself, then you'll be prompted to click OK to start running the patch.

  3. As the patch starts to run, you'll need to click Next on three separate screens.

  4. Just in case you have left Netscape running, you'll see a reminder that all copies of Netscape must be closed. After checking to be sure all copies of Netscape are closed, click Configure.

  5. When you see the message Update completed! You can exit this application now, click Exit. Click Close or OK to close all the other windows associated with the patch.

    6. Note: If you have both Netscape 4.7x and 7.x installed on your computer, this patch will only update Netscape 4.7x. If you also use Netscape 7.x for e-mail, follow the Netscape 7 configuration directions.
