These directions are for users of Mozilla 1.7.2 and 1.7.3 as customized for
use at the University of Delaware.
-
If you are directly connected to UD's network (either on-campus
or dialed into the UD modem pool),
follow this link
to download a copy of Mozilla 1.7.8 to your computer.
If you are connecting through another ISP,
follow this
link to download a copy of Mozilla 1.7.8 to your computer.
Save
it on your desktop. You will see an icon labelled
mozilla1_78u on your computer's desktop. Do not install the
new software until you have
removed Mozilla 1.7.2 or 1.7.3.
-
From your computer's Start menu, select Control
Panel.
-
Select Add or Remove Programs.
-
Scroll down the list of programs until you see Mozilla.
Click once on Mozilla, then click Remove. (If instead of
seeing separate "Change" and "Remove" buttons you see a
button labelled Change/Remove, select that one and, if
prompted, select
Remove in the next dialog box.)
-
In the Mozilla Uninstaller dialog box, click Yes.
It will take several minutes for the old copy of Mozilla to be
removed from your computer. Your preferences, bookmarks, and
e-mail information will remain on your computer.
-
After the program has been removed, close the Add or Remove
Programs and Control Panel windows.
-
Now you may double-click the mozilla1_78u icon on your
desktop to install Mozilla 1.7.8. The UD-customized copy of this
software has the proper settings for using Mozilla with UD's new
Mirapoint e-mail system.
-
After the installation is complete, return to the computer's desktop. You will see three Mozilla related
icons: The installation icon, the
Mozilla Navigator icon, and the Mozilla Mail icon.
- You can delete the installation icon because it is no longer needed: Right-click the icon. Click
Delete.
- The Mozilla Navigator icon will take you directly to the Mozilla browser program.
- The Mozilla Mail icon will take you directly to the Mozilla e-mail program.
