Using an Internet Service Provider (ISP) other than
the University of Delaware

Direct access to the Internet and the UD network is available to all UD students, faculty, and staff through UD's dial-in modem pool. Some members of the UD community choose to use a different Internet Service Provider (ISP), but would still like to have access to UD e-mail, UD licensed resources (library databases, etc.), and UD Employee and Student Information.

Accessing UD e-mail

Accessing UD licensed information

When connected to the Internet through a non-UD Internet provider, UD students, faculty, and staff can access information restricted by license to the University community (certain library resources, etc.) by configuring their web browsers to use the Web Proxy Server. After configuration, you will be prompted to enter your UDelNet ID and password to authenticate your UD affiliation. (Web proxy server configuration is not needed if you are dialing directly into the University of Delaware or connecting to the Internet from an on-campus Ethernet connection.)

Caution: The Web Proxy Server may not be compatible with your employer's or ISP's firewall.

Accessing UD Employee and Student Information (UDSIS, HRMS Personal Access)

The following versions of Firefox, Mozilla, and Internet Explorer will work for all UD applications:

You may have difficulty viewing certain UD restricted web pages using other browsers, such as the AOL Browser or other versions of Internet Explorer or Mozilla.

Caution: UDSIS may not be compatible with your employer's or ISP's firewall.
