II. New Database and Evaluation Software

The Committee has three major recurring tasks: to establish criteria for and select recipients of (1) the Excellence in Teaching and Excellence in Advising and Mentoring Awards and (2) the Francis Alison Faculty Award, as well as (3) set criteria and approve new awards for inclusion in the University Honors Day Program booklet. This year, for the first time, a new database and data evaluation software was introduced. Even though the old system was used to collect the nominations, all of those nominations were moved to the new system and all evaluations were carried out using the new software. There are a few “suggestions for improvements” that came up during the use of the database, but overall the database was remarkable and made the job of the committee much easier, compared to previous years. The “suggestions for improvements” were communicated to the CITA, Brenda Misko, responsible for the development for this database. Committee extends many thanks to Brenda Misko for a great job she did in the creation of this software.
