1.                  Excellence awards

 

a.       Select finalists

b.      Discussion question 1: Should there be a limit on number of times winning an Excellence Award?

c.       Discussion question 2: Should we do routine audits or spot audits for self-campaigning? If so, how?

d.      Discussion question 3: Should we establish a Lifetime award?

e.       Discussion question 4: Should we rethink the Advising Award and/or eligibility for it?

f.        Revise descriptions of our Excellence Awards in Honors Day Program (2007 entries below). Shall we make the last two parallel with the first?

 

                                                                    i.      Excellence in Faculty Teaching Award The University honors faculty members with monetary awards for excellence in teaching made available with funds from the Office of the President and the Office of the Provost.

                                                                  ii.      Excellence in Graduate Student Teaching Award A monetary award for teaching assistants graduate students for excellence in teaching made available with funds from the Office of the President and the Office of the Provost.

                                                                iii.      Excellence in Undergraduate Academic Advising AND MENTORING Award This monetary award is given to emphasize the importance of excellent academic advising, to recognize and reward excellent faculty advisors, and to encourage faculty to devote their time and attention to becoming more effective advisors. This campus-wide recognition indicates to students, parents, faculty, and the University community that academic advising is a valued part of the student’s education at the University.
