The Francis Alison Society was formed on 21 May 1990
by ten professors of the University of Delaware who had received the
Francis Alison Award from 1980 to 1989. The purpose of the Society, which
in 2004 included 23 professors who had received the award, is to promote
academic excellence at the University of Delaware by providing an agency
through which the members of the Society may give advice and counsel or
undertake activities for the benefit of the University of Delaware. Among
other activities, the Society has established a fund to recognize annually
an assistant professor with its Young Scholars Award. For further
information, contact Dr. Gerard J. Mangone, Secretary, 306 Robinson Hall.
