Formed in the Fall of 2007 with support from UD's Academic and Student Affairs Council, the Task Force is a group of UD community members, including students, faculty, staff, and administrative personnel.
The Sustainability Task Force serves as a catalyst for sustainable activities at UD. The mission of the Task Force is to stimulate networking; to raise awareness and educate the University community about sustainability issues; to promot existing sustainable practices at the University; and to encourage and support multidisciplinary efforts in education, research, service, and operations that contribute toward building a more sustainable UD, consistent with UD's mission statement and strategic planning initiatives.
Anyone at UD is welcome to volunteer - if you are interested, please email us at firstname.lastname@example.org.
UD Sustainability Task Force Working Groups were created to focus on specific tasks or projects related to the Task Force. Each working group is chaired by one or two people, and membership on the group lasts for one academic year. Each working group is comprised of representative students (undergraduate and graduate), staff, and faculty members.
Volunteering to serve on a working group is a great way to get involved in the educational initiatives of the University and help UD achieve the goals articulated in the UD Climate Action Plan. Below are descriptions of each the current working group.
The Task Force currently has seven committees:
- The Executive Council
- The Campus Sustainability Day Working Group
- The Sustainability Fund Working Group
- The Green Liaisons Working Group
- The Earth Week Working Group
- The Marketing and Communications Working Group
- Sustainability Policy Working Group
Small steps = big impact
In order to reduce our carbon footprint and achieve our Climate Action Plan goals, we must educate ourselves and our community and change our daily habits and practices.
From individuals to student groups, departments, colleges, and administrative units, our small steps create a significant, collective impact.
We hope that you will use this site as an avenue to involvement.
Explore the site, get involved, let us know what ideas you have, and be proud that you are contributing to UD's Initiative for the Planet.
