The University of Delaware's dairy farm serves as a model for farmers in the region and leads the way in utilizing the latest green methods of farming and green technology.
Climate scientists, philosophers, economists, ethicists and students gathered at the University of Delaware's Clayton Hall on Friday, Oct. 30 and Saturday, Oct. 31 to discuss the ways in which humans should respond to climate change, as part of a conference titled, "The Ethics of Climate Change: Intergenerational Justice and the Global Challenge." Following are UD centers working on issues related to sustainability issues:
University of Delaware Energy Institute. Marshals and expands science, engineering and public policy expertise in new and emerging energy technologies in cooperation with partners in industry and government.
Center for Energy and Environmental Policy. Interdisciplinary graduate education, research, and advocacy in energy and environmental policy.
Center for Climatic Research. Interdisciplinary research in all facets of climatology, bringing together scientists from around the world.
Center for Managed Ecosystems. A focus on redesigning human-dominated ecosystems to maximize biodiversity, and thus ecosystem productivity and sustainability.
Center for Applied Coastal Research. A focal point for research in coastal processes and coastal engineering.
Center for Critical Zone Research Research. A multidisciplinary initiative bringing together scientists, engineers and policy specialists across the university to focus on basic research of the Earth's life-sustaining, near surface environment.
Delaware Water Resources Center. Works actively with other universities, agencies and organizations in Delaware to develop a statewide program designed to resolve state and regional water related problems.
Fuel Cell Research Laboratory. The laboratory is focused on hydrogen PEM fuel cells and direct methanol fuel cells.
Gerald J. Mangone Center for Marine Policy. Conducts a broad range of research and policy studies on the management of ocean and coastal areas at national, regional and global scales.
Institute for Energy Conversion. Conducts leading-edge research in photovoltaics.
Institute for Public Administration. Links the research and resources of the University with the policy information and management needs of its partners.
Water Resources Agency. Provides technical assistance for water resources and watershed policy and to governments in Delaware and the Delaware Valley.
