While at Delaware you will have many opportunities for hands on experience to connect your academic interests to the needs of the local community. International study experiences To complement the gradaute education curriculum, international study trips are offered. Usually lasting one or two weeks, study trips are led by faculty and the group is often accompanied by practitioners. Study trips offer students the chance to better understand contemporary issues in the United States as well as gain an understanding of the practice of their areas of study in other cultures. To help ensure that this opportunity is accessible to all graduate students who want to participate, generous finanical support is available to students in the School of Urban Affairs and Public Policy to help defray the cost of this exciting experience. The internship experienceWe have a tradition of helping our graduate students find meaningful, paid summer internships in their areas of professional interest. Undergrads may do an internship during their junior or senior years. Legislative FellowsSince, 1982 our graduate students have been working in Legislative Hall with the Delaware General Assembly and experiencing policymaking at its nexus. Our intellectual communityOur faculty and students are making a real difference, studying real issues which have a direct impact on such things as water resource management, transportation planning, health care policy, and low-income housing development. Situated in Newark, Delaware, the University of Delaware is an ideal mid-Atlantic location for those interested in urban and metropolitan policy problems. Located on a beautiful campus nestled among tall trees and brick walkways, the University of Delaware offers a traditional small-town college atmosphere in a location that affords easy access to major political and business centers. |
