Application Materials

The priority deadline for full-time fall admission is February 1 to ensure full financial aid consideration.

Applicants for all of the School of Urban Affairs and Public Policy's graduate programs should submit the following to the University's Office of Graduate Studies:

  • University of Delaware Graduate Admission Application (Click here for the electronic application).

  • One copy of official transcripts of all undergraduate and graduate level work.

  • Graduate Record Examination (GRE) scores. UD's institution code is 5811. No department code is necessary.

  • Three letters of recommendation. It is suggested that at least one be an academic recommendation.

  • Statement of objectives and interests. Please follow the submission instructions in the Graduate Admission Application.

  • A résumé.

  • School of Urban Affairs and Public Policy Supplementary Information Form (Adobe Acrobat PDF).

  • Nonrefundable application fee of $60.

  • The TOEFL (Test of English as a Foreign Language) is required of all foreign applicants. A minimum score of 550 (paper-based test), 213 (computer-based test), or 79 (TOEFL iBT) is required for consideration for admission.

Deadlines

Applications must be complete to receive consideration. Please keep this in mind when scheduling your GRE test and seeking references.

Fall semester admission

Full-time applicants
The priority deadline is February 1 for full-time fall semester admission in SUAPP graduate programs. Applications are accepted after the February 1 deadline and those submitted after February 1 will be considered on a rolling basis until the final deadline, which is July 1.
Almost all of the financial aid is awarded for the fall semester and to those applicants who meet the February 1 deadline.

Part-time MPA applicants
The priority deadline for the MPA Career Enhancement Option is April 15.

The final deadline for fall admission (all programs) is July 1.

Spring semester admission

Applications for study beginning in the spring semester are accepted, but funding opportunities are quite limited. The vast majority of new students are admitted for the fall semester.

The final deadline for spring semester admission (all programs) is December 1.
