If you want to make a difference in the world and have an impact on community problems--and build a good life your yourself at the same time--consider a career in the public or nonprofit sector. Today's professionals in public and nonprofit agencies face many challenges with a rapidly shifting public sector workforce, new technology, and the pressure for better performance. Professionals with training and experience are well-equipped to handle these challenges. The Master of Public Administration (MPA) degree prepares students for career positions in government and nonprofit organizations and private sector companies that work closely with government. It is the preferred professional degree for anyone whose ambition is a career in public or nonprofit management. The MPA program at the University of Delaware is a 42-credit program that is usually completed in two years of full-time study. Many students take courses part-time and there is a Career Enhancement Option designed for working professionals who have at least five years of experience to complete their MPA degree in just over three years on a part-time accelerated basis. The MPA program at the University of Delaware is fully accredited by The National Association of Schools of Public Affairs and Administration (NASPAA) and subscribes to NASPAA's Member Code of Good Practice. The MPA program at the University of Delaware is the only NASPAA-accredited MPA program in the state.
