Registering for courses

Registering for courses in your first semester

Let's get started!

You will be mailed a list of courses available in the upcoming semester shortly before orientation. Look for the mailing from the School office about 3 weeks before the start of the semester. Don't worry, new School of Urban Affairs and Public Policy students won't have a problem registering for UAPP courses. Just keep in mind that you have to register before the free drop/add period ends Tuesday, September 16, 2008.

Advisement

All new students should receive advisement either from their advisor or research center faculty before registering for classes their first semester. That means, in your first semester, you won't actually register for courses until the semester begins. Your advisor and/or research center faculty will suggest a combination of core courses and introductory specialization courses.

New students will be assigned an advisor during Orientation based on the academic program and research center preferences indicated on your application. Students are free to change advisors at any time. Forms to change advisors are available at the School administration office in 184 Graham Hall.

Registering

Once you receive advisement, there are a number of ways you can actually register for your courses. You can register online using the UDSIS (Student Information System) You may also register on the kiosks at the Student Services Building. Or if you are having trouble, you may register at the School administration office in 184 Graham Hall.

You will need to establish a UDelNet ID and password in order to use the UDSIS system to register.

Although you won't register until you arrive on campus, it would be a good idea to become familiar with the required or core courses for your degree program and the specialization courses you have to chose from. You can find out more about the requirements of your degree program by clicking on Degree Programs. And, you can also search for University of Delaware courses online.

Classes for the fall 2008 semester begin at 8:00 am on Wednesday, September 3. 2008. The late registration period or "drop/add" for the fall semester continues through Tuesday, September 16, 2008. UDSIS will continue to be available for registration and drop/add throughout this period.
