Name:

Sam Hitchell

Major:

Music Education

Hometown:

Bayonne, NJ

Hobbies:

Traveling, the beach, singing, the New York Yankees, and, of course, shopping.

UD involvement:

Clarinet Ensemble, Marching Band, Symphonic Band, and A Capella.

Most exciting UD memory:

I have had so many memories and I am looking forward to making more. But those that stand out the most are attending my own orientation and feeling that UD energy, taking the field for the first time as a member of the Marching Band, finding out I had been offered the Orientation Leader position and being accepted into a campus A Cappella group.

Why I chose Delaware:

UD felt like home from the first time I visited as a high school sophomore. The students and faculty were so down to earth and friendly. In the end, UD just had so much to offer.

How I decided on my major:

Music has been my passion from an early age. I always knew it would remain a huge part of my life. When I stopped and thought about what truly makes me happy, music won hands down!

Favorite TV shows:

Big Bang Theory; The Bachelor/Bachelorette; Gossip Girl.

Favorite spot on Main Street:

Kildare’s…the pretzel tower is to die for!

Plans after college:

I plan on going for a Masters Degree in Music Performance. Once I graduate I hope to land a job sharing my passion for music with elementary-age students. In the summers, my dream is to put that Masters to good use by performing with various ensembles.
