John Michael Pantlik

Education/Background:

John Michael joined UD in February 2011. Born and raised in Memphis, TN, John Michael received a bachelor’s degree in Communications from the University of Tennessee and a master’s degree in Higher Education and Student Affairs from the University of South Carolina. Prior to his move from the South, John Michael worked at Georgia Tech in Atlanta. He has previous experience working with orientation, housing and residence life, and academic support programs.

Responsibilities:

Within NSO, John Michael supervises the Graduate Intern and Senior Leaders and works closely with them to recruit, train, and supervise the Orientation Leader staff. He helps implement orientation programs for freshman, transfer, and international students, and parents and guests. John Michael also works with Summit, UD’s outdoor orientation program, and helps support other First Year Experience initiatives. He is an active member of the National Orientation Directors Association (NODA) and the National Association of Student Personnel Administrators (NASPA).

Personal:

John Michael has a passion for working with student leaders and first-year transition programs. He has quickly caught on the Blue Hen spirit and loves seeing new students and families get connected to Delaware! John Michael is an avid runner, having completed several marathons, and enjoys watching college football, playing trivia, eating at California Tortilla, and wearing bowties on Tuesdays.
