Milestones in the History of the UD Press
Opening June 15
Information Room, Morris Library
The exhibition will celebrate the achievements of the University of Delaware Press, founded in the mid-1920's by University of Delaware President Walter Hullihen; Everett Johnson, publisher of the Newark Post and owner of the Press of Kells; and Dr. Joseph Odell, director of the Service Citizens, an organization funded by Pierre du Pont for the purpose of improving public schools in Delaware. The University of Delaware Press published books on an infrequent basis until 1975, when it joined Associated University Presses, a consortium of academic publishers. The four exhibition cases will feature historical documents and books from the early years of the Press as well as recent award-winning titles. |
