Parents
Dear University of Delaware Parent,
Welcome to the University of Delaware fraternity and sorority
community! Currently there are over 40 fraternity and sorority
organizations at the University of Delaware, with the total membership
of students around 1900. Fraternity and sorority members comprise
between 10 and 13% of the undergraduate population.
Becoming involved with a fraternity and sorority provides a "home
away from home" while at the University of Delaware. It is our
belief that the challenges and rewards of collegiate life can
be enhanced through a positive sorority and fraternity experience.
Fraternities and sororities were founded on four basic principles:
scholarship, leadership, service, and friendship. The Center for
Fraternity and Sorority Life, in accordance with the mission of
the Student Centers, assists fraternities and sororities as they
strive to fulfill these principles.
The University of Delaware fraternity and sorority experience
provides opportunities for students to receive a scholastic support
system; first hand experience in leadership skills, interacting
with faculty administrators; exposure to potential careers through
educational programs and discussions with alumni; the chance to
give back to the community through service projects; and close
friendships that will last a lifetime.
Thank you for supporting the fraternity and sorority community
at the University of Delaware. It is our hope that the positive
influence of fraternity and sorority membership will last long
after your son or daughter has graduated. Please feel free to
explore our website to learn valuable information about each of
our fraternities and sororities.
