For more than 150 years, extraordinary women have called Alpha Delta Pi home. Originally called the "Adelphean Society," Alpha Delta Pi was the first sorority in the world and forged the way for women in the fraternity system. Our founding took place on May 15, 1851 at Wesleyan Female College in Macon, Georgia—the first college in the world chartered to grant degrees to women. Throughout time we have consistently placed a high priority upon scholarship, service to the community, and the personal development of each of our members.
Alpha Delta Pi is currently 132 chapters strong in the United States and Canada. We look forward to establishing our newest chapter in March of 2008, when we’ll join the University of Delaware campus! We will be holding a separate recruitment process in March after the conclusion of Panhellenic Recruitment.
Alpha Delta Pi takes seriously every opportunity to share our sense of home with others, and our chapters and members have long been involved in providing meaningful service to the community. Since 1979, Alpha Delta Pi’s international philanthropy has been the Ronald McDonald House Charities. Ronald McDonald Houses exist throughout the world, providing a “home away from home” for children suffering from cancer, as well as for their families. The Ronald McDonald House in Wilmington will offer the opportunity for our colony members at UD to provide hands-on service to Alpha Delta Pi's international philanthropy.
Alpha Delta Pi looks forward to joining the UD campus and being an active part of your Panhellenic and campus community. We wish the existing eight sororities at UD and all Potential New Members the best of luck during recruitment!
