Governing
Councils
The Fraternity and Sorority Life Community at the University
of Delaware has four governing bodies. Each of the four councils
serves a specific purpose, and together promote the idea of one
community.
Greek Council (GC)

Every social fraternity and sorority has
representation on the Greek Council. The Greek Council is the
unifying body for Fraternity and Sorority Life. It's a collaborative
entity that allows the organizations to work together to strengthen
Fraternity and Sorority Life at the University of Delaware.
Interfraternity Council (IFC)

Governs the University
of Delaware's 14 North-American
Interfraternity Conference fraternities. As such, it establishes
guidelines for managing the issues and activities which face
the
chapters. The Council is responsible for all phases of recruitment,
including Rush.
Latino & Multi-Ethnic Greek Council (LMGC)
Although the LMGC is made up of historically Latino fraternities and sororities, membership in these organizations is open to all regardless of race, creed, color, or nationality.
National Panhellenic Conference (NPC)

Serves as the
governing body for theUniversity of Delaware's nine National
Panhellenic Conference sororities. Member delegates serve
as role models, dedicated to uphold good scholarship and high
standards of ethical conduct, while promoting friendship, harmony,
and unity among members, chapters, faculty, administration
and
campus groups.

The five historically
African American fraternities and sororities at the University
of Delaware are governed by the National
Pan-Hellenic Council. The stated purpose of the organization
is "unanimity of thought and action as far as possible in the
conduct of Greek letter collegiate fraternities and sororities,
and to consider problems of mutual interest to its member organizations."
