STUDENT ORGANIZATION WORKSHOP SERIES

The Student Centers present a workshop series for Registered Student Organizations and Fraternities & Sororities. Choose from various topics designed to help make your organization more successful.

All organizations that attend at least 4 out of the 7 offered workshops will receive a certificate and recognition at the Leadership Awards Ceremony in May 2009. There will also be additional rewards offered this semester. Board members are strongly encouraged to attend, but this series is open to all student leaders who are interested.

 

NOTE: Each workshop lists the “target audience,” the type of organization that topic is intended for. However anyone is welcome to attend any workshop of interest!

RSO WEBSITE INSTRUCTION

Target Audience: RSOs
Monday February 23 4PM
Thursday, March 12 4PM

This workshop is for new and existing RSOs. You will learn the process of obtaining UD server space, how to create a webpage, and publish it. We will provide a step by step demonstration creating a simple web page and go through the steps of making it "live". The web is a wonderful publicity and recruitment tool, but only if it is kept updated! This workshop will help you maximize that tool.
NOTE: You only need to attend one of the above dates.

 

PLANNING AN OUTDOOR EVENT Target Audience: ALL
Monday, March 5 5PM Trabant Theatre

This workshop is designed to assist student organizations with the process of planning an outdoor event.  The organizations will be made aware of necessities to hosting a program outside along with the great gains and unique challenges. Students will learn how to reserve the outdoor space along with equipment they may need.

 

OFFICER TRANSITION Target Audience: ALL
Thursday, March 12 5:30 PM Trabant 206

Make sure you don't leave your new board in the dark! As election time for many organizations approaches, don't miss this very important workshop designed to help an outgoing board properly train the newly elected board on what it takes to run your organization. We'll review necessary procedures to help make the transition successful, including tips to ensure that vital information to keep your group functioning is passed on. Members interested in running for a position are highly encouraged to attend as well.

 

MEETING MANAGEMENT Target Audience: ALL

Ineffective meetings can significantly impair an organizations success and discourage members. Want to learn how to run your organization more efficiently? This workshop will help you get organized and learn to be more proficient.

 

FUNDRAISING Target Audience: ALL

Trying to figure out how to make more money for your organization? Want to plan more programs this spring but can’t get the funding? Want to make sure your organization has money leftover at the end of the year? Come learn creative and fun ways to bring in additional funds for your organization and how to make sure your group doesn’t end the year in debt!

 

LEADERSHIP DEVELOPMENT Target Audience: ALL

“What did WE decide? Leadership and Group Decision-making”-- Decision-making is perhaps one of the most important facets of leadership, and critical to the development of a leader.  Leaders make decisions – decisions about what to do, how to do it, when, why, with whom, for how long, assuming what, and resulting in what end.  Sometimes decisions are made alone, sometimes with others, but always relative to others.  During this session students will learn how leaders facilitate group decision-making.

 

RESPONSIBLE DECISION MAKING Target Audience: ALL
