NEWARK, DE -- The University of Delaware men’s and women’s swimming and diving teams closed out the dual meet season Wednesday night with dominating victories over Widener University at Rawstrom Pool.

The Delaware women won 12 events to post a 156-61 victory while the Blue Hen were victorious in 12 races and registered a 162-90 win over the Pioneers.

The UD women closed the dual meet season with a record of 13-2, the team’s highest win total since a perfect 13-0 season in 1980-81 while the Delaware men improved to 7-5, their highest win total since going 8-4 in 1995-96.

Both Blue Hen teams will next be in action Feb. 14-17 when they compete at the Colonial Athletic Association championships at George Mason University in Fairfax, VA.

Kellie Pastore swam to three victories for the UD women as she won the 100 breaststroke (1:08.60) and 200 breaststroke (2:28.38) events and teamed with Emily Smathers, Kailey Pelton, and Kendall Warren to win the 400 medley relay in 4:04.80.

Other UD winners were Maryann Walker (at right) in the 50 freestyle (25.71) and 1,000 freestyle (10:54.65), Meredith Law in the 1,650 freestyle (17:40.40), Stephanie House in the 500 freestyle (5:14.65), Leigh Wagner in the 100 backstroke (1:02.35), Cecily Connell in the 200 freestyle (1:59.93), Smathers in the 200 backstroke (2:08.62), Rachel Greene in the 100 freestyle (54.88), and Pelton in the 200 butterfly (2:09.52).

On the men’s side, Andrew Zinn captured the 50 freestyle (22.05) and 200 freestyle (1:46.19), John Ohlhaver won the 100 freestyle (47.43) and teamed with Matt Rathbun, Scott Tsuchitani, and Brendan Spencer to win the 400 medley relay (3:39.65), and Spencer also won the 100 backstroke (55.73).

Other winners were Troy Sattgast in the 1,650 freestyle (16:58.66), Adam Blomberg in the 100 butterfly (53.68), Garrett Arant in the 200 backstroke (2:02.94), Craig Greenberg in the 200 breaststroke (2:19.39), Sam Mintz in the 500 freestyle (4:54.23), Ryan Carolan in the 200 butterfly (2:01.87), and Cory Sanderson in the 1,000 freestyle (10:23.06).
