Law, Sara Stephens Each Win Two Events But
Blue Hen Women's Swimming Falls At Towson,

TOWSON,
MD -- The University of Delaware men's and
women's swimming and diving teams returned
to action for the first time since
mid-December but were swept by host Towson
University Saturday afternoon at Burdick
Pool.
Towson
defeated the Delaware women, 140-101,
while the Tiger men upended the Blue Hens
by a 145-84 score.
Meredith
Law (right) led the Blue Hen women (4-3,
2-3 Colonial Athletic Association) by
capturing both the 500 freestyle in
5:11.40 and the 1000 freestyle in
10:38.19, while Sara Stephens also won two
events for Delaware, taking the 200
individual medley in 2:09.98 and the 100
breaststroke in 1:07.36. Sarah Bergen was
the only other event winner for the Blue
Hens, as she won the 3-meter diving with a
198.60 score.
Ellen
Heinz finished second in the 50 freestyle
in 25.54, while Kristen Avioli was second
in the 100 backstroke in 1:01.80 and
Bergen placed second in the 1-meter diving
with a 199.80 score. The Blue Hen 200
medley relay team of Avioli, Michelle
Stephens, Sara Stephens, and Heinz
finished second in its race in 1:53.00,
while the 200 freestyle relay team of
Kendall Warren, Law, Kim Gravatt, and
Leigh Askins also finished second in its
event in 1:44.31.
Levan
Beridze paced the Delaware men (1-6, 0-5
CAA) by winning the 100 freestyle in
48.49, while the 200 freestyle relay team
of Adam Blomberg, Andrew Zinn, Brendan
Spencer, and Beridze captured its event in
1:28.97.
Beridze
also finished second in the 50 freestyle
in 22.14, while Blomberg came in second in
both the 200 freestyle in 1:45.37 and the
100 butterfly in 54.13. Zinn was second in
the 100 freestyle in 49.36, Spencer placed
second in the 100 backstroke in 56.92, and
Eric Wembacher came in second in the 100
breaststroke in 1:07.13.
The Blue
Hen 200 medley relay team of Adam
Goldstein, David Hardie, Mark Weldin, and
Max Evers was also second in its event in
1:46.14.
Both
Delaware teams return to action Sunday
when they host CAA foe James Madison at 1
p.m. at Harry Rawstrom Pool.
