Named Colonial Athletic Association Female
Swimmer of the Week

RICHMOND,
VA --- The Colonial Athletic Association
announced Tuesday that University of
Delaware senior women's swimming standout
Sara Stephens has been named the CAA
Women's Swimmer of the Week.
Stephens,
a senior from Newark, DE (St. Mark's High
School), was one of five student-athletes
honored by the CAA. George Mason's Tim
Norton and Drexel's Sam Harris earned male
co-swimmers of the week, Tom Dingus of Old
Dominion was named male diver of the week,
and Drexel's Evamarie Guerrieri was named
female diver of the week.
Stephens,
who also won the weekly CAA award last
year, led the Blue Hens to a fourth place
finish at the Bucknell Invitational last
weekend. Stephens won two events and broke
her own school record in the 200 butterfly
with a time of 2:05.53. She also won the
100 butterfly with a time of 57.00 as well
as placing second in the 200
breaststroke.
A CoSIDA
Academic All-American nominee, Stephens
currently holds five school records and
last season captured the CAA 400 medley
relay title while also placing second in
the 100 and 200 butterfly events and third
in the 200 individual medley.
The Blue
Hen men's and women's swimming teams will
train in Florida Dec. 18-23 and will take
part in their next dual meet Jan. 9 at CAA
foe Towson University.
