DATE: December 8, 2004

RICHMOND, VA --- The Colonial Athletic Association announced Tuesday that University of Delaware senior women's swimming standout Sara Stephens has been named the CAA Women's Swimmer of the Week.

Stephens, a senior from Newark, DE (St. Mark's High School), was one of five student-athletes honored by the CAA. George Mason's Tim Norton and Drexel's Sam Harris earned male co-swimmers of the week, Tom Dingus of Old Dominion was named male diver of the week, and Drexel's Evamarie Guerrieri was named female diver of the week.

Stephens, who also won the weekly CAA award last year, led the Blue Hens to a fourth place finish at the Bucknell Invitational last weekend. Stephens won two events and broke her own school record in the 200 butterfly with a time of 2:05.53. She also won the 100 butterfly with a time of 57.00 as well as placing second in the 200 breaststroke.

A CoSIDA Academic All-American nominee, Stephens currently holds five school records and last season captured the CAA 400 medley relay title while also placing second in the 100 and 200 butterfly events and third in the 200 individual medley.

The Blue Hen men's and women's swimming teams will train in Florida Dec. 18-23 and will take part in their next dual meet Jan. 9 at CAA foe Towson University.
