NEWARK, DE -- University of Delaware men's and women's swimming and diving head coach John Hayman (right) has announced his list of freshmen recruits who will attend the University this fall and compete for the Blue Hens during the 2005-06 season.

The list includes 15 women's swimmers and eight men's swimmers as well as two women's divers and one men's diver. This year's class includes student-athletes from 11 different states, including California, Florida, Georgia, and Ohio and six each from Pennsylvania and Maryland.

The women's class includes distance freestyler Kelsey Paras from Lakewood, OH (Lakewood HS), butterfly/individual medley specialist Colleen Stewart from Rockville, MD (Richard Montgomery HS), butterfly/backstroker Katy White from Wadsworth, OH (Wadsworth HS), freestyler Catherine Gallagher of Severna Park, MD (DeSales HS), sprint freestyler Katie Smith from Marietta, OH (Marietta HS), individual medley/breaststroker Kellie Pastore from Philadelphia, PA (Archibishop Ryan HS), backstroker Emily Watts from Lansdale, PA (North Penn HS), breaststroker Lauren Southard from Montgomery Village, MD (Watkins Mill HS), and distance freestyler Katie Zoretic from San Diego, CA (Rancho Bernardo HS).

Also for the women, butterfly/freestyler Sarah Begley from Berwyn, PA (Conestoga HS), diver Alyson Oliver from West Palm Beach, FL (Suncoast HS), butterfly/freestyler Erin Phillips of Jacksonville, FL (The Bolles School), freestyle/backstroker Maryann Walker from Ellicott City, MD (Mt. Hebron HS), butterfly/freestyler Stephanie House of Pittsford, NY (Pittsford Sutherland HS), backstroker Brenna Davis of Bryn Athyn, PA (Academy of the New Church), butterfly specialist Kailey Pelton from Malvern, PA (Great Valley HS), and diver Shannon Burke from Shelton, CT (Shelton HS).

On the mens' side, joining the Blue Hens this fall will be sprint freestyler Ullik Sokolov from Leonardo, NJ (Ranney School), backstroke/freestyler Garrett Arant from Newark, DE (Newark HS), backstroker Robert Seraiva from Newport News, VA (Menchville HS), individual medley/butterfly specialist Peter Reiter from River Dale, NJ (Pascack Valley HS), butterfly/backstroker Ryan Carolan from Walnutport, PA (Northampton HS), individual medley/breaststroker Mark Erdosy from Walnutport, PA (Northampton HS), sprint freestyler John Ohlhaver of Catonsville, MD (Western HS), butterfly/freestyler James Lavender from Dunwoody, GA (Dunwoody HS), and diver Matt Abbruzesse from Merrick, NY (Bellmore HS).

The Delaware women posted a dual record of 6-4 and placed ninth at the Colonial Athletic Association Championships this past season while the UD men went 1-9 and placed 10th at the CAA meet.
