Stephens Wins Two Events, Ties School Record as Blue Hen Swimmers Place Fourth at Bucknell Invitational

LEWISBURG, PA -- Sara Stephens won two events and broke her own school record in the 200 butterfly and the Levan Beridze captured both the 50 and 100 freestyle events to lead University of Delaware competitors at the Bucknell University Swimming and Diving Invitational this past weekend .

The Delaware women placed fourth in the team standings with 464 points behind team champion New Hampshire (974), Bucknell (879), and Fordham (520). La Salle was fifth in the five-team field with 448 points. On the men's side, LaSalle won with a total of 1,018 points followed by Fordham in second (790.5), Bucknell in third (688.5), Delaware in fourth (464), and New Hampshire in fifth (227) in the five-team field.

Stephens continued to star for the Blue Hen women as she won 100 butterfly in a time of 57.00 and won the 200 butterfly, breaking her own school record with a time of 2:05.53. She also placed second in the 200 breaststroke (2:24.21), was third in the 200 individual medley (2:11.50), third in the 400 freestyle relay (3:38.03), fourth in the 200 freestyle relay (1:41.04), and fourth in the 200 medley relay (1:51.18).

Also for the UD women, Meredith Law captured the 1,650 freestyle (17:23.31) and was third in the 400 freestyle relay, 500 freestyle (5:10.58), and 400 individual medley (4:41.06), and Ellen Heinz placed third in the 400 freestyle relay and 100 freestyle (54.38), fourth in the 50 freestyle (25.13), 200 freestyle relay, and 200 medley relay, and fifth in the 500 freestyle (5:13.52).

For the Delaware men, Beridze won the 50 freestyle in 21.56 and the 100 freestyle in 47.46 and placed second in the 400 freestyle relay (3:11.75) and 200 freestyle relay (1:27.30), Adam Blomberg was second in the 400 freestyle relay, third in the 200 freestyle relay, fourth in the 100 freestyle (48.20) and 200 freestyle (1:44.98), and fifth in the 200 butterfly (2:03.13), and Andrew Zinn was second in the 400 freestyle relay, third in the 200 freestyle relay, and fourth in the 50 freestyle (21.92).
