ECAC Women's Swimming Championships
Feb. 26-28, 1999


SEWELL, NJ - University of Delaware junior Tom Maday was the Blue Hens' top finisher, placing in the top 10 in two events at the ECAC Championships held this past weekend at the Gloucester County Swim Complex.

Leading the Blue Hen women was Tanya Mainville (Cheshire/Cheshire, CT) who placed 11th in the one-meter dive.

The Delaware men placed 18th in the 30-team field while the Blue Hen women placed 22nd out of 28 teams.

Maday (Great Mills/Lexington Park, MD) placed sixth in the 200 breaststroke (58.01) and ninth in the 100 breaststroke (2:06.83), finishing in the top 10 in both events for the second straight year.

Also for the UD men, junior Brian Aston (Cheshire/Cheshire, CT) placed eight in the one-meter dive and ninth in the three-meter dive; freshman Ian Miller (Dover/Dover, PA) placed 31st in the 100 butterfly, 33rd in the 50 freestyle, and Peter Metrinko (Sachem/Holbrook, NY) placed 12th in the one-meter dive and 15th in the three-meter dive, Ryan Fauth placed 21st in the 500 freestyle, 31st in the 200 freestyle, and 55th in the 200 junior John Fernandes (A.I. duPont HS) placed 42nd in the 100 breaststroke and 48th in the 50 freestyle. The top UD relay team of Maday, Miller, Fernandes, and Fauth placed 14th in the 200 freestyle relay (1:27.81).

Also for the Delaware women, freshman Jennifer Haus (St. Mark's HS) placed 14th in the 200 freestyle, freshman Amy Spooner (Upper Dublin/Maple Glen, PA) was 18th in the 200 individual medley and 53rd in the 100 freestyle; junior Lisa Dillinger (Pallotti/Crofton, MD) was 18th in the 100 backstroke and 25th in the 200 backstroke; junior Amanda Stouffer (O.J. Roberts/Spring City, PA) was 17th in the 100 freestyle, 19th in the 100 breaststroke, and 25th in the 50 freestyle; freshman Danielle Hack (Susquehanna/Harrisburg, PA) placed 43rd in the 100 breaststroke and 54th in the 200 individual medley; and sophomore

Megan Schuster (Newark HS) was 24th in the one-meter dive and 25th in the three-meter dive). Haus, Spooner, Dillinger, and Stouffer teamed for the best relay finish, placing 18th in the 200 medley relay. Dillinger's 100 backstroke time of 59.82 in that event broke her own school record.
