NEWARK, DE -- Brian Sprinkle, a former all-conference player at Longwood (VA) University and a local youth coach in Delaware, has been added to the University of Delaware women’s soccer staff as an assistant coach, head coach Scott Grzenda has announced.
Sprinkle will work primarily with the Blue Hen goalkeepers. He joins a staff that includes Grzenda and assistant coach Ginna Lewing. The Blue Hens currently own a record of 5-6 (1-3 Colonial Athletic Association) heading into weekend CAA road matches at George Mason (Oct. 12) and Towson (Oct. 14).
Sprinkle has been a member of both Maryland and Virginia ODP staffs in recent years. He currently works with Delaware’s Olympic Development Program as well as many teams within the Kirkwood soccer club.
He graduated from Longwood University in 1985, where he was a standout goalkeeper who earned all-conference honors from 1982-84. Following graduation, Sprinkle was a member of the Longwood coaching staff during the 1986 season.
Sprinkle is currently the athletic director at Pencader Charter High School in Delaware. He resides in Landenberg, PA with his wife, Lynne, and their children, Baden and Greyson. He also has a daughter, Samantha, who will be entering college next fall.
