WASHINGTON, D.C. -- The University of Delaware women's soccer team saw its three-game winning streak come to an end Sunday at North Kehoe Field, where Georgetown claimed a 3-1 victory behind two second-half goals.

The Hoyas struck first, as defender Michaela Buonomo hammered home a free kick from Karen Waskewich just 11 minutes into the action. Blue Hen forward Amy Pickard answered at the 37:42 mark, scoring her second goal of the season when she got a pass from Lisa Parsons, beat a defender one-on-one, and slid the ball past the keeper.

Georgetown, which fired 11 shots before intermission, continued to bombard the Hen goal in the second half. But the Hoyas couldn't break free until Sara Jordan settled a pass in the box and buried the ball in the back of the net in the 62nd minute. Daryn Towle put the game away with 12 minutes left, beating Delaware goalie E.J. Goldman (right) on a breakway.

Georgetown out-shot the Blue Hens 24-9, but Goldman kept UD in the game with a season-high 12 saves, the most by a Delaware keeper since Melissa Kulp had 14 against Hartford in 1993.

Delaware (3-2) fell to 0-2 in the all-time series with Georgetown, while the Hoyas (7-1) extended their own winning streak to five games.

Sophomore forward Caitlyn Germain led the Blue Hen attack with three shots.

Next on the schedule for Delaware is a trip to the Lone Star State, where the Hens will take on Texas-San Antonio on Friday at 7 p.m.
