WILMINGTON, NC -- Erica Rodgers and Jenny Cauble each scored a goal in leading the UNC Wilmington women’s soccer team to a 2-0 win over the University of Delaware on Friday evening.
Jamie Balzarini made three saves to post the shutout for the Seahawks (10-4, 5-2 CAA). Bonnie Mills made three saves for the Blue Hens (8-5-2, 3-4 CAA).
UNCW grabbed the lead when Rodgers, the younger sister of Delaware’s Dana Rodgers, launched a shot from the top of the box to the far lefthand corner of the net for her fourth goal of the season.
The Seahawks added to their lead 20 minutes into the second half when Cauble scored her second goal of the year following a deflection on a corner kick.
The Seahawks held a 13-6 advantage on shots for the game, led by five each from Ashley Church and Cauble. Kasie Shover had two shots for Delaware.
The Hens will return to action on Sunday when they travel to Atlanta to take on Georgia State at 1 p.m.
